The recruitment of interviewees began in June 2023, which coincided with the beginning of academic breaks in many European and North American research institutions. This timing made recruitment difficult, as the individuals we contacted often did not reply or were unavailable.
Interviews with five participants representing three institutions took place between July and September 2023 (Table 1), four of whom were women. Three participants were based at the University of Bristol as we were most successful in eliciting responses from within our university.
